Summer vacation is handling me. And, when I say handling me, I mean more like kicking my trash.
Kelly D. is gone all the time shooting summer weddings, and I have forgotten what it’s like to have all three boys home all day long.
I have things to write about but I’m so exhausted at the end of the day that I crash. Too tired to think.
Today is no different and I have jewelry orders to fill, so I’m just going to share this:
At the boy scouts bottle rocket launch tonight, the scout master told me to take off my hat when we said the pledge of allegiance. He singled me out, gestured to me and said, “Hats off.” I am just as patriotic as the next guy, but I didn’t think that rule applied to girls. Am I wrong? Besides that, the hat had been on my head since right after my shower this morning and the hat-hair that was happening under there was beyond description.
I guess I’m not totally for the equal treatment of women.

yeah i always thought that too (the hat girl rule), although i’ve never understood why it doesn’t apply to girls. i’ve just always been glad that i don’t have to take my hat off when the guys do (mostly because of the hat head thing). i think this is a one time deal, that dude must not be in the know.

we wear hats for different reasons but natalie’s K teacher made her take her hat off at school and i thought that was really weird. it’s an accessory, not a last minute decision (unless it’s a bad hair day decision of course). but i do think that when it comes to the flag, hats are hats. sorry about your hair.

I’d never heard of that rule. I always feel really weird, no matter how my hair looks, if I’ve got a hat on for a prayer, the pledge, anything like that. I guess I’ve always viewed it as a way to show respect.

Okay, I just reread that and I REALLY hope it doesn’t come across as snotty! I promise I didn’t mean for it to!

I thought that was the rule too. Chad always makes me take mine off, which I hate! But here’s what I think. That rule was made a long time ago when women wore those really frilly hats. Not ball caps. I hate to say it, but a baseball cap is a baseball cap, and it should be taken off for the pledge and prayers. And since that is the only kind of hat I wear, I guess I need to start taking mine off too!
