Boston to New Hampshire

We left Boston this morning for New Hampshire. But before we did, we stopped in the city for breakfast. We found this little place called Moo…

It was fabulous. And when I say fabulous, I mean it in a swanky, way-cooler-than-us kind of way.
The inside of the restaurant had a whole cow theme going on. It was not what you’d think though when I say cow.
It was bovine elevated.
Posh, modern, awesome. Like, totally awesome.

The food was just as good as the atmosphere.
Loved it.
As we drove on the freeway to New Hampshire which is lined on either side by trees turning all manner of orange, red and yellow, we saw a sign that pointed out an historic Shaker Village.
Kelly said, “You wanna see a Shaker Village?” so off we went.
And wow.
Let me paint you a picture.
Imagine yourself in a convertible. Sure, it’s October, but if you turn up the heat in your car it cancels out the cold air. It is sunny out, but the air is still crisp.
You are driving down roads that look like this…
road
The smell in the air is thick with a combination of pine, hay, and autumn.
Wait, I forgot to tell you what is on the radio! Click on this, then read the rest of the post.

Okay, where were we?
Oh yeah, so you are driving down this road…
roadagain
and you see a sign that shows you the way to a little family owned farm where you can buy pumpkins and apples, and real maple syrup.
You follow the sign and buy maple syrup from a woman who sells it all from her screened in porch. No pumpkins, though, because how would you get them home on the plane?
Every now and then, you see things like this…
farmstand
or this…
dogincar
or this…
bandb
Are you remembering the smell of the air, and that the top is down on the car you rented?
Good. Don’t forget that you don’t know or care what time it is, because you’ve got nothing to do except exactly what you’re doing.
Smelling that air, driving on that road, and listening to that music. And taking pictures.
Which brings me to the photos for the contest today.
Here they are… now people, I know more people read this blog than are voting. I don’t know who you are, but that little sitemeter on here tells me you’re out there.
Don’t be shy. Come on and vote.

Okay, voting time. Hard to pick once again, but I really love photo #2.

Eeeks, I’m scared to vote. But I say #2. And can I borrow your camera for my next vacation? And your skills…

Although I love both, somehow the building and all the different colors of the sky and grass and trees are making me vote for #1. I love the building on #2 though.

#2, so restful.

7 melanie { 10.14.07 at 9:57 am }

Number two- The colors are so vibrant. It sounds like you guys are having a blast. My question is what did Kelly D thini of Moo..?

8 Rachel { 10.14.07 at 10:08 am }

My vote is the church #1, oh the churches in NH are so pretty and quaint. And the smell of Autumn, thank you for reminding me!

Sounds like a bit of heaven…as for the contest…YIKES! Love them both but if a vote is necessary I’d have to go with #2, the colors and the trees are so amazing!

I agree with Robyn, country churches all the way. I vote for # 1. Is the sky really that blue???

17 Shelby { 10.14.07 at 5:33 pm }

#2

21 The Blonde Erin { 10.14.07 at 9:38 pm }

They are both beautiful. I vote for number one. However. . .I like the little paved walkway to the white house as well as the wooded path photo JUST as much. How does it feel to ooze with talent?
What exactly did they serve at Moo?

22 Kelly Anne { 10.15.07 at 4:51 am }

Erin…
you would have loved that restaurant! Since it was breakfast, I had a wild mushroom fritatta and Kelly had pancakes that tasted like bread pudding.
The presentation of everything was so cool. I took notes. And pictures.

23 Kimba { 10.15.07 at 9:45 am }

Moo! I love it! This one is hard, I love them both, but #2. :)

24 grandmalizzy { 10.15.07 at 10:38 am }

Your trip sounds like the perfect vacation, enjoy! I have to vote for the church. Love country churches and I can imagine that picture on a post card. It looks kind of like a Moroni on top, I had to take a double look. LM

25 Juliene Scott { 10.15.07 at 4:33 pm }

I love them both but #2 has my vote on this one.

26 Angela { 10.15.07 at 9:44 pm }

#2.

27 Cheryl { 10.18.07 at 1:51 pm }

#2 I want to take a nap on the grass.

You both need to help me so I can get that color in my photographs…they are mesmerizing!

28 cara { 05.28.08 at 2:40 pm }

#2… I want to know if you are using a filter or if the edge effect is a photoshop thing? so who’s was it, yours or Kelly D’s?

29 Amie { 09.17.08 at 11:48 pm }

and loved this one….
