Plan B
A place to go when you don’t feel like being in the place you are. Do you have one of these?
.
Mine is in the desert, in a trailer. On a piece of land that nobody wants. I grow herbs and cactus. I wear cut offs and big hats. I’m tan to the point of ugliness, and my hair hasn’t been cut in years. I braid it almost every day and bathe with a garden hose. I have lots of windchimes that hang from the edge of my patio awning. I sit in the shade, which is still HOT and drink ice water or mountain dew. I have a dog that spends most of her time in a kiddie pool filled with water to keep cool. I listen to music that plays through the window of my trailer. And I paint.

A nice, beautifully designed, comfy, cozy, cabin in the mountains in a climate that is fairly warm year round. There is a lake that is well stocked, the fish of preference would be perch, bass, trout, and catfish. They are the funnest to catch. There is a hiking trail all the way around the lake. I have a four wheeler, a gas pump, boat, kayak, tube, pier, rope swing, and all the fishing gear I need. I have plenty of books to read, movies to watch, and my camera and laptop are used often. I do crafty things and have all the supplies needed for the craft of the day (all according to what I am in the “mood” for). I also have my meals magically appear 5 days out of the week and they are tasty and healthy. I do enjoy cooking but cooking only 2 days a week would appease that enjoyment.
(That is the just of it, Kelly, plus a little extra. I hate it when I delete things I wanted to keep. Hope you get it all worked out.)
OOPS, I forgot the music. It is a crucial part of my “Plan B”. There would be background music almost all of the time. It would change according to my mood, and mostly be relaxing until I find myself in the mood to sing along or dance at which point the tempo would pick up and the moves would start coming alive.
My place is a beautiful old (but not scary) villa overlooking the sea, on a clifftop. There are no other houses for miles. I walk around barefoot on the dark wooden floors. I wear white. I drink iced tea (even though I don’t like tea). I sit and listen to the sea as I write my novel on my laptop. It never gets stormy, and the sound of the waves is ever-comforting.
I think that’s pretty much what I said before!
Desert, ouch, I suffer so in the heat. Mine… well I kind of have it in the winter. Perfect weather, produceing orange tree out one window, Tangellow tree out the other, birds singing, breeze blowing, my dog snuggling, my honey buzzing around, my laptop waiting my command, my kids happy and safe in their homes. I’m not sharing this to be ‘in your face’., no, to encourage you that some day (after all the due’s are paid) you will probably be able to have a bit of your dream.
love it!! I’m still working on mine…
Welcome to Arizona! Kelly, you would love it here… hot, hot and hotter. Your wind chimes would be ringing today because the wind is howling at 40 mph. The desert isn’t as peaceful as you think
I always thought my place would be by the ocean, but I’ve realized that I long for the mountains of home more than anything else. I need to see peaks and valleys, and have seasons that change and give new perspective to the world.
